Erika Lagerbielke

Erika Lagerbielke was born in Stockholm 1960. She has an education from Konstfack in Stockholm in Industrial design, 1979 – 1983. Erika Lagerbielke  is a renowned glass designer.  One of her projects is the glassware that  constituted the wedding gift from the Swedish parliament and government to the royal crown princess couple. Another well known series is the Orrefors Intermezzo, the wine glass with the blue drop.

Designing rugs is rather a new field for Erika, which she finds very exciting. She brings along her experiences from the glass design, gladly works with colours  in many layers – a sort of a transperence. She consider the rug to be one of the most important interioir pieces in the room, as the rug builds rooms in the room and adds  edge and character. For Erika function and innovation are important design elements, that the design expression is stylish and dynamic with a warm keynote, och she loves to work with the colour scheme.

– Actually I grew up amidst yarn and fabrics. My parents worked with textile art and design in their own studio, where ofthen I could join in. I have a strong attachment to textile, but no professional expertise. It makes the process to design rugs quite exciting.
