Erika Lagerbielke born in Stockholm 1960. Trained in industrial design at The University College of Arts, Crafts and Design 1979-1983. Erika Lagerbielke is a well known glass designer. One of her projects was the glassware that was the wedding gift of the Swedish parliament and government to the Crown Princess and her husband. Another well known range is Orrefors Intermezzo, the wine glass with the blue drop.

Rugs are a relatively new area of design for Erika, and she finds it very exciting. She uses her experience from glass design and likes to work with colours in several layers. Erika regards the rug as one of a room’s most important furnishings; the rug creates a room within the room and adds character. She favours function and innovation; her expression of design is both classic and dynamic and she loves the work involved in colour combination.

“I actually grew up among yarns and fabrics. My parents worked with textile art and design in their own studio and I was often with them there. I have a strong emotional relation to textiles, but no real specialist knowledge. That makes the work of designing rugs rather exciting.”
